Discover Your Archetype
Birthday Rune Reading
Unlike a spread you draw for a single question, your birthday rune is calculated once from your date of birth and stays with you for life — a personal Elder Futhark archetype, much like a sun sign, but rooted in Norse tradition.
How Your Birth Rune Profile Is Built
We combine up to five traditional methods: the solar half-month your birthday falls in (your core Primary rune from the ancient runic calendar), your birth hour if you know it, a numerology reduction of your full birth date, and — optionally — the runes hidden in the letters of your name. Curious about the tradition behind each method? Read our full guide to birth runes.
Just Enter Your Birth Details!
Name and birth time are optional — the reading works with just a date of birth. Add them for a fuller, more personal profile with extra supporting runes. Your details are used only to calculate the profile on this page.
Birth Rune Questions, Answered
What is a birth rune?
A birth rune is the Elder Futhark rune associated with the half-month of the runic calendar in which you were born. It works much like a zodiac sign: a lifelong archetype describing your core nature, rather than an answer to a single question the way a single rune draw does.
Do I need my exact birth time?
No. The date alone gives you a Primary and a Secondary rune. Adding your birth hour refines the profile with an hour rune, and adding your name contributes up to two more supporting runes — five in total.
How is this different from other readings?
Spreads like the Life Purpose Rune Reading or the Rune Reading for 2026 answer a question you bring today. Your birth-rune profile never changes: calculate it once and return to it whenever you need to reconnect with your core strengths.
Which methods do you use?
The solar half-month calendar, the birth-hour wheel, date numerology, and name-rune transliteration — all four traditions are explained step by step in our complete guide to birth runes.
